Whatever. If I can't find time to do that I won't ever release this article, so let's do without it.
Some of you might have read my previous article on this subject. It's about a heuristic videogame AI architecture I was designing to solve a specific problem in a specific project, but which I Luis Guimarãeshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00718753383788485628noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-481803688245286308.post-70892380597103848972014-09-01T18:30:00.004-03:002015-02-17T06:51:52.174-03:00RPG Solo – A Very Cool "Genre" To PlayA few months ago I found this website called RPG Solo. It's basically a virtual GM with a general purpose open system you can use to play RPGs by yourself, using the hints and tips from the GM to guide your adventures.
Instead of playing an actual RPG adventure as we know it, and put myself as a PC, I experimented with using it as an assistance for writing Fiction. Unknown Presence
Sometimes it's not that we don't know what something looks like, but that we don't know where it is, and that can be a frightening experience. In the first part of this series we tried to identify and define three (of many possible) abstract forms of incomplete information (knowledge) packaging – the unknown, the vague and the uncanny – and three common subsets of the subject of information – about image, about presence and about imminence.
The point of this breakdown is that it lets Luis Guimarãeshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00718753383788485628noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-481803688245286308.post-4872295412054601062013-12-04T11:21:00.001-03:002020-01-31T12:57:43.043-03:00Simon's Ant On The Beach
So here at Candango Games we are working on this horror game for PC which is bound to be announced soon – it's the game I'm studying the building blocks of horror for – and one of the main features I wanted it to have was a good and immersive stealth system. And we all know the one most important thing in making great stealth is great AI.
Looking to achieve that, I came up with a heuristic Luis Guimarãeshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00718753383788485628noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-481803688245286308.post-54466286589572818542013-12-03T01:54:00.000-03:002013-12-03T02:06:58.719-03:00Fear Of The Unknown, Part 1
The oldest and strongest emotion of mankind is fear, and
the oldest and strongest kind of fear is fear of the unknown.
– H.P. Lovecraft
The famous horror master is frequently cited in discussions surrounding the subject of horror and fear in video-games. "The biggest fear is fear of the unknown". That's correct, we do fear the unknown... But what, exactly, is the unknown? What Is a Game?
Software is a medium, and as one, it can deliver Messages. Messages can be laughs, political views, social critiques, stories, feelings, tools, knowledge, news and nearly anything that can be virtualized. Virtualization is the transformation of things into pure Information.
A Game is anything and everything that can be gamed. Gaming something is manipulating events involving itLuis Guimarãeshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00718753383788485628noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-481803688245286308.post-36836746358781086932013-12-01T10:55:00.000-03:002013-12-03T02:07:05.399-03:00Hello World
